Founded in 2011 by Saracens professional rugby player (then school-boy), Gareth Simpson, Rugby Recycled was born from a desire to help make rugby accessible to all, through the collection and donation of rugby kit. From the professional clubs to the grass roots, rugby should be available for everyone to play.

Rugby Recycled partnered with Scrum5 in South Africa in 2022, to facilitate a project for kit collections in the UK that are then distributed to rugby teams, clubs and schools in South Africa.

In June 2024, Rugby Recycled partnered with Star* Scheme to collect kit for them that will then be distributed and donated across the Star* network.
